Dry Eye & Localized Inflammation

Dry eye secondary to localized inflammation

Inflammation around the eyelids and eye surface can disturb the tear film. Blepharitis, irritated or blocked meibomian glands and ocular rosacea may contribute. Changes in the oils that normally support tears can allow tears to evaporate too quickly.

What you may notice

Burning, crusting around the lashes, irritated eyelids, watering and dryness can overlap. Similar symptoms may have different causes, so an examination helps identify the pattern rather than treating every red eye the same way.

Care directed at the cause

Your doctor examines the lash line, lid margins, glands and eye surface. A plan may combine a tailored lid-care routine, lubrication, medication or professional treatment when appropriate. Demodex-related disease requires its own assessment.

Follow-up helps assess the response and adjust long-term care. Persistent symptoms or recurring eyelid bumps should be examined.
