AT VILLAGE EYES OPTOMETRY

Preservative-Free Artificial Tears

Lubrication without added preservatives

Artificial tears supplement the tear film and can ease dryness and irritation. Preservative-free formulations avoid the preservatives used in many conventional bottles, which can irritate a sensitive eye surface.

When they may be helpful

Your doctor may recommend preservative-free tears when drops are needed frequently or when your eyes are sensitive to preserved products. They are available in single-use containers and specially designed multidose bottles. No single formulation suits every patient.

Using drops thoughtfully

Follow the package instructions and your clinician’s advice about use and disposal. Avoid touching the bottle tip to your eye or skin. Gels and ointments may last longer but can temporarily blur vision.

Part of a broader care plan

Artificial tears provide lubrication but may not address every cause of dry eye. Persistent symptoms are a reason to assess the eyelids, tear film and eye surface and discuss additional care.
